Charlotte Peace is a label focused on making high-quality garments with a strong emphasis on wearable fashion. One of my main goals as a designer is to create perfectly made pieces that flatter the figure.
My education in design took place in the City of Bath. I achieved a Diploma in 2006, and in 2009, at 21, I graduated from Bath Spa University with a BA in Fashion Design.
Whilst at university, my skills in cutting and construction developed to a very high standard. It soon became clear that I would always put a lot of time and care into the production of collections. With this in mind, I didn't want to just focus on design, or just cutting. I wanted to remain involved in the whole process from start to finish. The only way this could happen was for me to start my own lable.
My first collections is taken from my Graduate Collection. The outfits take inspiration from traditional armour and space suits. Using features from these sources, I have created a strong look - a feminine take on a subject dominated by masculinity.
One of the dresses in my collection, the 'Space Dress' is directly from my university collection. I feel that this dress was my most sucessful piece and I wanted to show it to a wider audience. It perfectly encapsulates the theme of my collection and I believe it to be the most versatile piece. It can be a daytime or formal dress, with the endless option of accessorising, and I'm personally very proud of it.
